Within walking distance is Barbaste with its fortified mill and Romanesque bridge.

Barely further is the walled village of Vianne founded in 1284 when English and French started to fight over Aquitaine, with charming handicraft shops, its glass factory and a lively night-market.

In the other direction you will find Nerac, the former Summer Court of King Henri IV with its castle, old houses, winding streets and well stocked farmer’s market. An important cultural center for South West France in 1500-1600.

In neighbouring Gers, you will enjoy the visit of Fources , a unique round “bastide”, the walled hamlet of Larressingle , the beautiful Roman mosaics of Seviac and the bustling town of Condom with its Cathedral, armagnac museum and…its unique museum of condoms through the ages!

We are in the middle of a producing area for red, rose or white wines (Buzet , Cotes de Brulhois, Cotes de Marmande, Cotes de Gascogne) and of course of the mythical Armagnac. All these can and should be sampled before buying.

The South West region is bustling with music festivals : 2 weeks non stop International Jazz in Marciac (JIM,1h away, a taste of “Nawlins” in Gascony), Classical, Country , Latino.. Something for every one’s taste.

Some twenty minutes away is Agen, the administrative center of Lot et Garonne with many buildings from the Renaissance and its world famous canal-bridge where the Canal Lateral carries boats some 10 m above the Garonne river.

About the same distance is Pujols overlooking Villeneuve/Lot, one of the most beautiful villages in South West France France, a must for a Sunday morning.

For the more adventurous, within 2-3 hrs by car you will find some of the top tourists places in France: Cordes/Ciel, Albi, Rocamadour, Carcassonne, the prehistoric caves of Lascaux, Pech Merle et les Eyzies, the town of St Emilion and the whole Bordeaux wine region, the pilgrimage site of Lourdes, the Atlantic Coast with the renowned cities of Arcachon, Biarritz, Hendaye, the Pyrenees mountains with the fabled Cirque de Gavarnie and Pic du Midi.
